Rubiergard

Rubiergard (Danish Rudbjerggård ) is a mansion on Lolland . In its long history it belonged to the families Reventlow and Knuth as well as the Danish crown.

history

Rubiergard is first mentioned in 1231 in the Waldemar earth book . It belonged to the crown until the fifteenth century. This transferred it to Christiern Rud, who ceded it to the knight and member of the Imperial Council, Mogens Ebbesen Galt. After Galt's death, Rubiergard fell into the hands of his sons Erik and Ebbe. They both died on the same day in the attack on Dithmarschen , which is why a dispute over the rightful owner of the manor broke out. It was decided to transfer the mansion to the sister of the brothers and Ebbe's sons. Erik Grubbe bought the estate in 1548 and then sold it to Erik Rud in 1555. When his son Knud died in 1611, Rubiergard came into the possession of his stepdaughter Kirsten Munk, who was, however, still a child. That is why the estate was administered by Ellen Marsvin, who sold Rubiergard to Pernille Rosenkrantz with royal permission . In 1623 the estate was sold to the court master of Queen Sophie, Joachim von Barnewitz. Rubiergard remained in the possession of the Barnewitz and Bülow families until 1755 .

In 1755 Ida Margrethe Knuth Rubiergard, Fritzholm , bought a gift from God with the associated Saunsøgård . Her son allegedly laid out the avenue of lime trees, which still exists today, and the zoo, which has long since passed. The manor house then belonged to the Knuth family for a hundred years. From 1855 to 1865 the estate belonged to the morganatic wife of King Frederick VII , Countess Louise Danner .
