Ruchovci - also called škola národní (national school) - was a group of Czech poets around the Almanac Ruch . Ruch was first published in 1868 when the foundation stone was laid for the National Theater in Prague .

The members dealt with current national and social problems and fought for the liberation of Czech literature from foreign influences. The aims also included supporting the patriotism of Slavism and highlighting the importance of Czech history and rural life.

Their merits include the rediscovery of old folk songs and the national epic. They also wanted to be close to the Slovak movement. In poetry, mostly with a patriotic and political touch, they used independent rhetorical verses, the poet appeared as the tribune of his people.
