The rowing club an den Teichwiesen (RVT for short) is a registered Hamburg rowing club for men and women, which is not one of the traditional Hamburg rowing clubs. The RVT boathouse is located directly on the Alster .
history
The RVT emerged from the student rowing club at the school an den Teichwiesen in the Volksdorf district of Hamburg . It was founded in 1965 by students, teachers and alumni of this school, initially for the purpose of promoting student rowing.
A first high point was achieved in 1984 when he won the title and placed second at world championships , the Canadian championships and the British Henley Royal Regatta , second and third places in the German championship rowing , in traditional international races and in the junior world championships in rowing .
1986 to 1987 brought medals and victories on the "Eichkranz", medals in the German championship and in traditional international races as well as nominations for the world championship.
From 1988 to 1989 the club was able to collect two German championships, several victories in traditional international races and medals on the "Eichkranz" through its rowers; the club's first male rower also contributed a second place at the German championships.
The racing climax was reached when Christiane Weber won the title in 1991 in Vienna at the world championships in lightweight double sculls . She repeated this success in 1992 at the World Championships of the non-Olympic boat classes in Montreal.
Two rowers from the RVT and the neighboring rowing club Wandsbek won silver in eighth place at the Junior World Championships in 1994. The existence of the sporting successes of RV Teichwiesen is largely due to the activities of Gerd Schäfer and Rita Hendes .
