Rudolf Gschweidl

Rudolf Gschweidl (born September 1, 1905 in Grünbach am Schneeberg , † August 3, 1975 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and warehouse keeper. He was a member of the Austrian National Council and mayor of Puchberg am Schneeberg .

Life

Gschweidl attended the six-class elementary school and continued his education at the advanced training school in Grünbach and at the workers' college in Vienna. Professionally, he initially worked as a miner for Grünbacher Steinkohlenwerke AG, but subsequently remained unemployed for a long time. Later he worked as a seller of the consumer cooperative Schwarzatal in Grünbach and from 1945 as its managing director.

politics

Gschweidl was a member of Grünbach's municipal council between 1930 and 1934, although he continued his political commitment during the period of Austrofascism and after the Social Democratic Party was banned. Therefore Gschweindl was arrested in February 1935 and sentenced to three years in prison.

In 1945 he was elected mayor of the market town of Puchberg am Schneeberg. He also worked for the SPÖ between December 19, 1945 and March 18, 1953 as a member of the National Council.
