The workers' college was established in 1926 in the so-called Maria-Theresien-Schlössel in Sickenberggasse in Vienna- Döbling . The historical building, also known as Sickenberg-Schlösschen or Nussdorfer-Schlösschen, was established as a party college. The headmaster was Josef Luitpold Stern . The speakers included Friedrich Adler , Max Adler , Helene Bauer , Otto Bauer , Robert Danneberg , Julius Deutsch , Matthias Eldersch , Alexander Eifler , Arnold Eisler , Richard Fränkel , Otto Neurath , Edmund Palla , Oscar Pollak , Karl Renner , Adolf Schärf and Max Winter .

During the school-free months, the building could be used by friendly educational institutions such as the Arbeitsersängerbund . There was also a four-week special course for functionaries of the women's organization. Due to the outbreak of the global economic crisis, the workers' college had to be closed in 1930 for financial reasons.

Among the graduates of the workers' college were the later mayor of Vienna and Federal President Franz Jonas , the later women's chairwoman Rosa Jochmann , the later city councilor Maria Jacobi and the later minister and union leader Karl Maisel .

The castle was used by the Nazi regime and later by the KPÖ. It was demolished in 1960 because of "building damage".
