history

Rayani Air was founded in 2015 and started operations on December 20, 2015 with two Boeing 737-400 ex- Malaysia Airlines aircraft. She made headlines around the world because she strictly adhered to the religious law of Islam ( Sharia ) on board the aircraft . Before take-off and landing, prayers were quoted from the Koran , only halal meals and no alcohol were served. The clothing of the crew is traditionally Islamic.

On April 8, 2016, the airline announced that its operations would be suspended indefinitely. On Facebook , the airline stated that it was hiring for “operational reasons”. The Straits Times newspaper cited an internal e-mail to employees in which it was stated that Rayani Air was checking all areas for profitability. Rayani Air founder Ravi Alagendrran informed the newspaper The Star via SMS that the cessation of operations (“grounding” of the air fleet) was part of a restructuring plan.

In June 2016, the Malaysian aviation authority DCA revoked the company's license because "safety in the aviation industry is of the utmost importance."
