Career

Koch, who previously played for SC Neuenhaßlau , started his career in 1968 at Kickers Offenbach . In 1971 he moved to the Regionalliga promoted SV Darmstadt 98 . In the 1972/73 season he made his breakthrough there with 25 goals this season behind top scorer Ferdinand Keller from TSV 1860 Munich , who had achieved one more goal. Koch celebrated his greatest sporting success this season with the southern championship of SV Darmstadt 98 and the subsequent participation in the Bundesliga promotion round. The following years were characterized by frequent and protracted breaks from injuries, so that he only came on a few missions. It was not until the 1976/77 season that he made a comeback, mostly as a substitute, with 8 goals in 19 season games. In 1977/78 he let his career in paid football end with Kickers Würzburg .
