from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudolf Reuter (born February 14, 1946 in Nuremberg ; † October 5, 1964 near Palingen ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Life

Rudolf Reuter, who lives in the Federal Republic, had been a regular soldier in the Bundeswehr in Regensburg since 1963 . In September 1964 he was in Schleswig-Holstein for combat training. There he disappeared, possibly because of an upcoming court hearing for serious theft, after he was last seen on September 20, 1964 in Lütjenburg . On April 7, 1965, GDR border guards discovered Reuter's body in a mined section of the border near Palingen. It is believed that he was killed in a mine explosion on October 5, 1964. This had been noticed by the GDR border troops, but it was suspected that the explosion was triggered by an animal, as there were no traces of a refugee in the east-west direction.

In the Federal Republic of Germany Rudolf Reuter was missing until 1994. The GDR authorities had him registered as "Rudolf Kreuter" because his papers were barely legible when the body was found.
