Mohd Khalil Yaakob
Do Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil bin Yaakob ( Jawi :محمد خليل بن يعقوب; born December 29, 1937 in Kuantan , Pahang , Malaysia ) has been the Yang di-Pertua Negeri (governor) of the Malaysian state of Malacca since June 4, 2004 . He is a politician for the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) in Pahang.
Life
Khalil graduated from Malay College Kuala Kangsar and graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Arts . He became a professional diplomat and has been to Italy , Morocco , Singapore and Indonesia . He is married to Toh Puan Datuk Seri Utama Hajah Zurina Binti Kassim.
Political career
Khalil is a member of the United Malays National Organization and served on the party's executive board in 1984. In 1999 he became general secretary of the party.
In the 1978 general election, he was elected to the Parliament of Pahang . In 1982 he won a seat in Parliament in Maran and became Deputy Minister of Education. In 1984 he was appointed head of the Prime Minster Department in the cabinet.
Khalil won the Bukit Tajau in the 1986 election and became Menteri Besar of Pahang. He held this office for three terms until 1999. In the 1999 general election, he was elected for Kuantan in the Parliament of Malaysia. He was then elected Minister of Information. In 2004 he did not stand for re-election.
In April 2001, Fauzi Abdul Rahman , MP for Pahang, filed a complaint against Mohd Khalil for allegedly embezzling money as Menteri Besar from Pahang.

On June 4, 2004, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin appointed him Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Malacca .
During his tenure, was Malacca on July 7, 2008 UNESCO - World Heritage appointed.

title
It bears the title of "Tun Datuk Seri Utama". This is a combination of the Malaysian title "Tun" (SMN) and his Malakka title "Datuk Seri Utama" (DUNM)
Similar combinations of the title “Do” (SMN) and your local title are also used in the other states of Malaysia. This is the name of the ruler of Sabah Tun Datuk Seri Panglima .
