Yang di-Pertuan Agong
Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the official title of the Malaysian electoral king .
Office
The king is elected de jure from among the federal rulers. The office is de facto based on the principle of rotation, it is held alternately by the rulers of the nine individual monarchical states for five years each. Due to the parliamentary, constitutional constitution, the office is primarily of a ceremonial nature.
The official residence of Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the Istana Negara Jalan Duta (until 2011 Istana Negara ) in Kuala Lumpur and the Istana Melawati in Putrajaya .
term
The literal translation from Malay to German is The One Who Was Made Ruler . Since this translation is a bit cumbersome, the term King of Malaysia is usually used.
Since 1993 the full title in Malay is Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong . Before that, the honorary title Ke Bawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia was also used. The wife of Yang di-Pertuan Agong, i.e. the queen, is called Raja Permaisuri Agong . The salutation in German is His Majesty and Her Majesty .
