Yang di-Pertuan Negara

Yang di-Pertuan Negara or mostly just Yang di-Pertuan ( German  Head of State or Supreme Leader ) is a title for heads of state and government in Singapore , Brunei and Malaysia .

Singapore

In Singapore, among others, Yusof bin Ishak Yang di-Pertuan Negara was from Singapore until independence in 1965. After that, the office was renamed Presiden ( President ).

Malaysia

In Malaysia there was the title from 1963 to 1976 in the state of Sabah , and designated the governor ( English State Governor ), today one uses Yang di-Pertua Negeri (also "head of the country") for all provinces. Yang di Pertuan Agong is the name of the five-year president of the nine rajas and sultans, the formal head of state (elected monarchy).

Brunei

The title Yang di-Pertuan is still used as an addition for the Sultan of Brunei .
