Brunei royal family

The Brunei Royal Family is a group of people who are closely related to the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam .

By definition, all members of the royal family bear the title of "Royal Member" ( Pengiran ), the Sultan himself has the title of "Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan ". The first wife of the Sultan also bears the title of “Royal First Wife ” ( Raja Isteri ), the other wives the title of “Royal Follower” ( Pengiran Isteri ). The children of the first wife of the Sultan also bear the additional designation “descendant of the queen” ( yang Gahara ), the children of another woman the addition “no descendant of the queen” ( yang tidak Gahara ).

According to these conditions, the following persons belong to the royal family:

  • the Brunei sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan
  • his wives
  • the monarch's children
  • the grandchildren of the monarch
  • the monarch's siblings and their spouses
  • the children of the monarch's siblings and their spouses
