Al-Muhtadee Billah (born February 17, 1974 in Bandar Seri Begawan ), with full name Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Mu 'Hassanal Bolkiah izzaddin Waddaulah , is the first son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his first wife Queen Saleha, the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam . On August 10, 1998, he was raised to crown prince. This brings him into the successor position as the future 30th Sultan of Brunei Darussalam.

Prince Billah has served as a Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's Office since May 24, 2005, a general in the Brunei Air Force and an inspector of the Brunei Police Department.

The prince began his education at the Putara-Puteri palace school in Brunei in his younger years. He graduated from high school in 1988 and completed his basic education in 1991 at Paduka Seri Begawan Science College and in 1994 at Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College.

In 1994 Billah began studying at the University of Brunei Darussalam and in October 1995 began studying at the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies . In 1997 he completed a correspondence course at Magdalen College , Oxford , England . In 1998 he received his diploma in diplomatic sciences.
