Rudy Mbemba

Rudy Mbemba (born August 29, 1987 in Spånga ) is a Swedish basketball player who played 39 times for the Swedish national team. He was considered one of the greatest basketball talents Sweden has ever brought out.

career

Mbemba, whose parents come from the Democratic Republic of the Congo , began his professional career in 2003 at the Swedish Club 08 Stockholm , switched to the Spanish second division UB La Palma in 2004 and returned to his home in Stockholm in January 2005.

From October 2005 he played for the German Bundesliga club Skyliners Frankfurt . Rudy Mbemba, who is 1.78 m tall and playing in the guard position, had enormous jumping power, a spectacular style of play and his fast passing game. He ran up to the end of the 2006/07 season in 42 Bundesliga games for Frankfurt, his best performance in the league was 14 points in the game against Quakenbrück in December 2006. In the 2007/08 season he strengthened the Swedish first division club Solna Vikings and won with the team the championship title.

He then tried again to gain a foothold abroad: During the 2008/09 season Mbemba was under contract with Vanoli Soresina (Italian Lega2), at the beginning of the 2009/10 season he was part of the squad of the Greek first division club Peristeri Athens, but returned in autumn 2009 back to Sweden and the Solna Vikings.

From 2010 further stations followed in his home country, namely Sundsvall Dragons, LF Basket, White Eagles Stockholm. After a short detour to the Macedonian club KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, he was back in Sweden, playing for the White Eagles Stockholm, but was banned for two years in 2014 due to missed doping tests. In 2016 he returned to the field after the suspension ended, playing for ASS Sale in Morocco and subsequently in Sweden for Umeå BSK and the Södertälje Kings.
