Diversion

Call diversion (English Call Deflection (CD) ) is a feature of switching technology and telephone systems . This is the immediate forwarding of an incoming telephone call (call).

It differs from the other call forwarding methods, as the forwarding is only initiated on a case-by-case basis (separately for each call) and not configured to a fixed destination, as is only possible with so-called call forwarding services. Call diversion and call forwarding service features are summarized under the generic term call diversion .

This type of call diversion is used, for example, in an office : The majority of calls are actively diverted to the secretary's office for each call , while others are accepted.

In the fixed network , but also in the cellular networks , call diversions can lead to additional costs for the called party (depending on the network operator and forwarding destination). In the case of a forwarding, the called party bears the costs to the forwarding destination, while the caller only bears the costs to the originally called party.

Only one forwarding is possible per call.
