The radio station Monschau is a facility for supplying the old town of Monschau , North Rhine-Westphalia, with VHF radio programs. Monschau lies deep in the Rur valley and can only be safely supplied with radio programs in this way.
For this purpose, a transmitting antenna, consisting of cross dipoles , was installed at a height of 17 meters on the roof of the Sankt-Michael-Gymnasium. It is the only radio broadcasting facility on school grounds in Germany. 500 m to the east on the Mühlenley there is another West German broadcasting mast , which transmits the television programs. The transmitter acts as a converter that receives its transmission data by receiving the ball from another transmitter via the double Yagi-Uda antenna .
