Roundwood assortments are raw wood assortments with predefined, marketable division. Wood is sorted by type of wood , dimension, quality and intended use. There are logs, industrial wood, energy wood and a large number of other assortments. According to the framework agreement for raw wood, these ranges are RVR for short, a recommendation for a uniform designation. They are recommended according to the national ELDAT standard reference key. The round wood assortments are sent to the forest manager or forest worker as compliance criteria or quality guidelines. Species of wood, dimensions, quality and range are specified depending on the intended use. The thinner end of the trunk is called a braid and the thicker end is called the foot.

Logs

Trunk wood is raw wood for material use, the sawing or veneer industry. A distinction is made between “long logs” (random lengths) and logs sections (standard order lengths up to 6 m), common lengths are, for example, 4.10 m, 5 m or 6 m.

  • Type of wood: hardwood and softwood
  • Dimension: diameter (approx.): Pigtail 12 cm - foot 55 cm (profile hogger) or pigtail 12 cm - foot 120 cm (frame or band saw); Length: Standard allowance of ± 10 cm
  • Quality: Curvature per running meter single-lined / double-lined (one-sided / two-sided curvature), no blue stain or discoloration.

Industrial wood

Industrial wood is raw wood for material use, the wood-based materials industry or the paper and pulp industry. "Industrial wood long" is over 3 m long and "Industrial wood short" 1–3 m. In forest harvesting operations in addition to the assortments are logs and pulpwood and wood chips produced. As a rule, industrial wood is tolerated as 3 m wood with small diameters.

  • Type of wood: hardwood and softwood
  • Dimension: Diameter (approx.): Plait 7 cm - base 45 cm (OSB) or plait 7 cm to 75 cm (MDF); Length: no allowance
  • Quality: depending on use: e.g. B. no blue stain or other discoloration of OSB and sanding wood , no twists and splits.

Energy wood

Energy wood is raw wood for energetic use. “Energy wood long” is over 3 m long and “energy wood short” 1–3 m. There is residual forest wood .

  • Type of wood: hardwood and softwood
  • Dimension: stumps, bushes, weak logs
  • Quality: no ongoing decomposition.

Other ranges

There is a multitude of assortments depending on the intended use. Some important ones are: peeling and veneer timber, saw logs (valuable timber, long timber, double logs, logs, weak logs and brown logs), logs for other purposes (driven piles, strong masts, masts, forest poles and concrete supports), industrial wood (grinding wood, pulpwood, secondary wood, manipulation wood, Panel wood and energy wood), sleeper logs and pit wood.
