Runestone M 15

The rune stone fragments and the rune stone at the church of Skön (Sköns kyrka) on the Skönsberg, between Johannedal and Sundsbruk, east of Birsta near Sundsvall in Sweden belong to the only 18 often fragmentary, sometimes also disappeared rune stones in the historical province of Medelpad .

Runestone M 15

The approximately 1.35 m high, at the base 0.4 m wide and about 0.2 m thick rune stone M 15 (also Skön 70: 1) made of gray granite stands outside the church. It has a peculiar ornamentation with an elegantly shaped snake whose tail is in a noose around its own neck. Since the snake is shown from above, the style is called "bird's eye view" ( Swedish fågelperspektiven ). The carver integrated a swastika motif into the outline of a Greek cross .

The inscription reads: "Bjorn built this stone after Ofrid and Unn, his sons".
