Runestone from Lassegården

The 1.15 m high fragment of the rune stone from Lassegården ( Samnordisk runtextdatabas Vg 106) at Karleby farm, south of Leksberg in the municipality of Mariestad in Västergötland in Sweden , is a mask stone .

The fragment was found during excavation work in 1949. On the front is the weathered image of a mask in the style of moms , similar to that of the rune stone DR 66 . The beginning and end of the runic inscription on the narrow side of the fragment have been lost.

The engraving, dated between 980 and 1015, reads:

"... a: kubl: iftiʀ: · þoru · moþur: s ......"

"... made the memorial for Torah, his mother ..."
