Mask stone
Maskenstein ( Danish Maskesten also Trollstein - Swedish skräckmask - Schreckmaske) is the name for rune stones and other stones depicting a face ( mask ) from the late Viking Age (around 960 – around 1050) in Sweden and Denmark . The stone of Sjellebro has no runic inscription.

Denmark

The outermost narrow stone shows a mask in the center. The inscription on both sides of the mask reads:
- Freystein places this stone in memory of Gyrðr his comrade, Sigvaldi's brother
The rest is illegible.
- DR 66 Stone of Aarhus (around 960/1050)
A mask is depicted on one side of the stone and a runic inscription on the other two :
- Gunulv and Ögot and Aslag and Rolf had this stone erected after Ful their comrade, who… found death when (the) kings were fighting.

- DR 81 Skjern
The rune stone wears a mask in the center of the front side, which is similar to that of Sjellebro. It stands near Ringkøbing Fjord , in the graveyard of Skjern Church . His inscription reads:
- Sasgard, Finnulv's daughter, built this stone for Odinkar, the son of Osbjørn the dear and loyal to the prince. A magician (should) the man (meet, curse) who destroyed this monument .
- DR 1985: 539 Bildstein from Sjellebro
The 1.7 meter high stone only has a large face (troll), it bears no inscription.
- The Bjerring rune stone (Danish Bjerring-stenen - DR AUD1996; 274 or DK MJy 10) was found in 1996 during the restoration of the north portal of Bjerring Church as a threshold stone . On the back of the stone a mask in the style of a mother is carved. Traces of the reddish-yellow color can be seen in the mask, which is rarely retained.
