Runestone Sö 113 from Kolunda

The four rune stones from Kolunda are in the hamlet Kolunda , east of Skogstorp in the municipality of Eskilstuna in Sweden Södermanland County .

Runestone Sö 112

The rune stone Sö 112 is a mask stone with a mask depiction , which was scratched by the rune master Traen (A). It was set up in a group with the stones Sö 113 and Sö NOR1998; 22 ( ).

Runestone Sö 113

The oldest of the four stones was found during excavation near a burial mound from the 11th century. It was likely standing on the hill east of Road 53 before being tipped over and buried in the ground.

Its inscription in straight, vertical rune ribbons shows that it was written in the older rune stone style , the RAK style, which does not have any images and where the ribbon ends smoothly, and is one of the oldest rune stones in the region. The translated inscription reads: "Set the stone, the sons Torkättil and Folka, after the father and mother, made the male (memorial)."

Runestone Sö NOR1998; 22

A rune stone newly found in Kolunda in 1997 (Sö NOR1998; 22) with an invocation of the Mother of God was published in 1998 in “Nytt om Runer”. The rune stone has a special appearance and bears an unusual inscription. He was found demolishing a barn on the Kolunda farm, but initially ended up on a pile of stones. The stone is narrow and the incision is on two sides in a serpentine ribbon. The surface is rough and, according to Helmer Gustavson (1938–2018), not particularly suitable for carving runes. The raised stone now stands next to the two older Kolunda stones. His text reads: "God and the Mother of God help Geres (?) Spirit." The name of the dead man is uncertain.

Runestone Sö Fv1990: 31

In 1988 the rune stone fragment Sö Fv1990: 31 was found. Only a few letters and parts of an arm of a cross can be seen on the two incised sides. The fragment was placed at the site, about 500 m east of the other stones ( ).
