Skjern rune stones
The rune stones from Skjern (DR 80, 81) are in the churchyard of Skjern , near the Ringkøbing Fjord in Central Jutland in Denmark . The smaller rune stone , discovered in 1843, had been broken and walled in in the Karnhaus of Skjern Church. It is quite damaged and its inscription can only be deciphered: "... Osbjern ... his ... Haralds ..."
The larger, well-preserved rune or mask stone was found in the ruins of Skjern Castle. Around a central Maskenritzung (no Maskaron ) which has a great affinity with the Stone of Sjellebro , has a rune belt loops with the inscription: "Sasgard, Finnulvs daughter, this stone erected for Odinkar the son Osbjørns, the expensive and Prince close faithful (actually : prince believers). A magician (should) the man (meet, curse, enchant) who destroyed this monument. "
The stone is by no means younger than 950 AD.
