Volodymyr Sitkin
Volodymyr Sitkin ( Ukrainian Володимир Сіткін , English transcription Volodymir Sitkin; born December 6, 1934 in Krasnyj Lyman , Donetsk Oblast ; † January 23, 2019 in Kiev ) was a Ukrainian high jumper who competed for the Soviet Union .
At the European Athletics Championships in 1954 in Bern, he was eliminated in qualification. In 1955 he won silver at the World Festival of Youth and Students .
In 1956 he was sixth at the Olympic Games in Melbourne , and in 1957 he won bronze at the World Festival of Youth and Students.
In 1957 he became a Soviet champion. The shoes with which he set the world record of 2.15 m in Odessa on September 29, 1957 , were subsequently banned by the IAAF . He set his personal best of 2.09 m with regular shoes on May 12, 1963 in Kiev .
