Runestone Vg 9 from Leksberg

Runestone Vg 9

The rune stone Vg 9 was found in 1878 when the eastern part of the old cemetery wall was removed. The stone made of reddish granite is 1.75 m high, 0.6 m wide and 0.4 m thick. The rune height is 13-16 cm. The runic inscription on the edge reads: "× kunur: arsti: slin: þina: iftiR × a- (i) b × naka × foþur ÷ þrkls ×"

Translated: "Gunnur set this stone naked after Olov, Torkel's father."

Olov nacke is also mentioned on the rune stone Vg 12 in Hindsberg. The female first name Gunnur is a form of the name Gunvor, which also occurs on Vg 36.

The rune stone southeast of the Leksberg church is probably in situ . The antiquarian Johannes Bureus (1568–1652) visited the site in 1622. The rune researcher Johan Hadorph (1630–1693) visited the site in 1673 with his royal companion, the young Charles XI. The king was on Eriksgata and the antiquarian was the historical guide. The rune stone at Stora Ek east of Leksberg had also been visited beforehand.

Runestone Vg 10

Vg 10 is one of the medieval lily stones made of light sandstone , of which four more, but without runes, are at the church in Leksberg. The lily stone with runic inscription is about 1.95 m high, 0.65 m wide and 0.19 m thick. The rune height on the raised upper edge is 3 to 4 cm. It was found in 1916 as a threshold stone in the church's Karnhaus, which was built in 1742 and is a listed building . According to the runic inscriptions from Västergötland, the inscription painted in 1990 reads: "Torsten Priester".
