The rune stone Sö 173 is one of the Ingvar stones ( Swedish Ingvarsstenar ). The inscription in the double serpentine band with an Irish belt is difficult to read.

The translation of the inscription reads: “Muskia and Manne had this monument erected after their brother Rodger and his father Holmsten. He was in the west for a long time. They went east with Ingvar. ”The memorial is a so-called Ingvar stone and in the text it seems as if Holmsten had previously traveled to the west before he and his son Rodger were killed on Ingvar's journey to the east. The names of the siblings Manne and Muskia also appear on the neighboring stone Sö 374. The unusual female name Muskia, which probably means dark, is also mentioned on the rune stone Sö 13 in Ånhammar .

The rune stone Sö 374 was found in 1936 together with a building stone just a few meters from the rune stone Sö 173. The upper part of the stone is chipped off. The ornamentation is dominated by a large Christian cross framed by a ribbon of snakes cut above. The carving is signed by a rune master named Styvjald. The names of the siblings Manne and Muskia are given in the runic texts of the two stones. A translation of the mutilated inscription reads: “... let the stone be built by Manne, Muskia's brother. Styvjald chiseled the runes… good father… ”.

There is a building stone nearby . The three stones are in situ on the road.
