Gernot Ruof (born February 10, 1964 in Spesbach ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Ruof began playing football at his hometown club SV Spesbach . In 1984 he started his career in the 2nd division at Alemannia Aachen. After stints at 1. FC Saarbrücken and KSV Hessen Kassel , he then played at FSV Mainz 05 . His greatest success was the 3rd place in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1989 at 1. FC Saarbrücken.
