Rupert's Wharf is the only port on the island of St. Helena in the Atlantic Ocean and one of only four in total in the British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha . The island's sea rescue service is located here .

The pier is located in Rupert's Valley in the capital district of Jamestown . The port was built to land material for the construction of St. Helena Airport and was replaced by a permanent pier by June 2016 . The multi-purpose freighter Greta was the first ship to call at the new port on July 1, 2016 .

The port is primarily used for industrial purposes, including the landing of fuel. Some distance away, a total of eight large tanks, each with a capacity of 750,000 liters, were built in the valley, four for diesel, two for gasoline and two for kerosene. Two pipelines are under construction to transport the fuel to the power plant and the airport.

In addition, the small beach is used by locals for swimming. The bay is relatively protected and there are no underwater currents. A beach bar opened in 2018 and is very popular. However, when a fuel tanker docks the beach will be closed to the public.

In the course of the airport construction, a connection road from Ruper's Wharf to the airport was built for the transport of the building materials. It was opened to the public after the construction work was completed.
