Rushcliffe is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the southern county of Nottinghamshire . The constituency was created back in 1885 and covers much of West Bridgford , Cotgrave and Radcliffe on Trent . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

Rushcliffe is considered to be a wealthy, conservative constituency, which in its current form has so far been represented by eight politicians. Historically, the constituency was represented by Ralph Assheton, 1st Baron Clitheroe and Martin Redmayne, Baron Redmayne, among others . Since the British general election in 1970 , Kenneth Clarke's constituency was represented in Parliament. Clarke was a member of the Conservative Party and was expelled from the Conservative parliamentary group in early September 2019 after voting against Boris Johnson . In the 2019 general election , Clarke did not run, the seat went to Ruth Edwards .

In April 2013 the constituency had an unemployment rate of only 1.8%.
