Russian-Ukrainian border barrier

The Russian-Ukrainian border barrier - also known as the Ukrainian wall or European wall - is a reinforced border barrier under construction in Ukraine along the Russian-Ukrainian border in 2016 . The aim of the project is to prevent foreign troops from entering Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenjuk presented this project on September 3, 2014. On September 12, 2014, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved 100 million hryvnia for the construction of reinforcements on the border with Russia. On March 18, 2015, the Ukrainian government allocated 865 million hryvnia for this purpose in order to build reinforcements on the border between Ukraine and Russia .

On August 20, 2015, it was announced that Ukraine had completed 10% of the reinforcement line and that approximately 180 kilometers of anti-tank trenches had been dug, 40 kilometers of barbed wire fence and 500 reinforcement barriers had been erected. 139 million hryvnia from the 300 million budget of the project have been built up by then. Additional funds for expansion in 2016 amounting to 460 million hryvnia are planned.
