Ruth Hommelsheim

Ruth Hommelsheim (born December 21, 1965 in Göppingen ) is a German artist . She mainly works with the medium of photography.

Life

From 1986 to 1992 Hommelsheim studied photography at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences . She lives in Berlin. In 2007 Ruth Hommelsheim founded and ran the Loris producers' gallery in Berlin together with other artists, with more than 100 exhibitions and numerous talks, lectures and concerts.

Ruth Hommelsheim goes to the fringes of photography. It transcends a purely documentary approach. In addition to photography, she integrates other media and techniques such as overpainting, drawing and installation into her work. In addition to her many years of artistic research on urbanity, another focus is on working with materials from archives. Hommelsheim's work has been exhibited in Germany, Europe and China.
