Ruth Malcomson (* 1906 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † 1988 , ibid) was the fourth Miss America in 1924 .

At the age of 17 she won the Bather's Revue as an amateur in 1923 and was elected Miss Philadelphia a little later . In 1924 she went to Atlantic City against 84 competitors for the title of Miss America, which she also won, where she also beat the defending champion, Mary Katherine Campbell , who had run again. She did not run for elections the following year.

A few years later she married Carl Schaubel and continued to live in Philadelphia. Her niece was elected Miss Philadelphia in 1956 and her great niece Miss Delaware in 1981 .
