Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt (* 1932 in Wurzen ) is a German artist specializing in visual poetry and mail art .

Life

From 1947 to 1950 Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt did an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. In 1950 she moved to Berlin and from 1951 studied at the workers and farmers faculty , after which she studied philosophy for a year. In 1954 she met Robert Rehfeldt , whom she married a year later. She found a job in the exhibition department of the Academy of Arts and drew and painted on the side.

In the early 1970s she began to develop her typical typewriter graphics and to participate in her husband's mail art . In 1975 she was accepted into the Association of Fine Artists of the GDR. In 1990 she largely stopped her artistic work.

On her 80th birthday in 2012 , the Weserburg Museum for Modern Art in Bremen showed her entire oeuvre of typewritings. An edition of her best sheets was also produced by Verlag Lutz Wohlrab . This is how Jennifer Chert became aware of her. In 2015 the Chert Gallery in Berlin dedicated a solo exhibition to Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt. In 2016 a monograph and the book Schriftstücke and articles in various art magazines were published. In 2017 she took part in documenta 14 in the Neue Neue Galerie exhibition hall in Kassel .
