Ryrie Rock

The Ryrie Rock is an isolated cliff rock off the Mawson Coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It is 18 km northeast of Kidson Island and 42 km northeast of Byrd Head .

Participants in the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered him in February 1931. Mawson named him after Granville de Laune Ryrie (1865-1937), Australian High Commissioner in the United Kingdom from 1927 until 1932.
