S&P Deep Sea Oil & Gas Index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

S&P Tiefsee Öl & Gas Index denotes a share index , which is made up of oil service companies with a focus on deep-sea production. The index is calculated by Standard & Poor's and tracks at least 15 companies in this area. There are currently 22 companies in the index. These are primarily active in the fields of deep sea drilling, surface supply, seismography and underwater construction. All stock corporations included are included in the index calculation with the same weighting. The S&P Tiefsee Öl & Gas Index is a so-called Total Return (TR) index, ie dividends are reinvested and thus taken into account in the index calculation. The index composition is reviewed twice a year and adjusted if necessary. The companies included are also weighted equally again. In principle, all companies in the relevant sector are considered for inclusion in the index, but certain minimum requirements must be met. This includes a daily trading volume of $ 1 million and a market capitalization of $ 500 million.

Offshore production of energy resources such as oil and gas is currently becoming increasingly important due to increasing demand. In the course of the rising prices, there is also an increasing possibility of extraction, as this means that previously uneconomical storage facilities can be used profitably.
