Fugro NV , headquartered in Leidschendam in the Netherlands, is a publicly traded company that mainly provides services for geophysical, geotechnical and contaminated sites underground exploration and the exploration of raw materials. The name is an acronym for Funderingstechniek en Grondmechanica . The company was founded in 1962.

The range of customers includes companies in the oil and gas industry (which is why Fugro is listed in the S&P Tiefsee Oil & Gas Index ), customers from the construction sector and environmental technology. The company has over 10,500 employees worldwide and branches in 60 countries (2016). The German headquarters are in Berlin (Fugro Germany Land GmbH).

Companies

Fugro is particularly heavily involved in offshore exploration with a large fleet of exploration vessels (around 60 in 2009), aircraft, jack-up rigs , ROVs . For subsoil exploration, Fugro was a leader in the development of pressure sounding (CPT), which was originally a basis for the company.

Today the company is divided into the fields of geotechnical engineering, geoscience and surveying.

As of April 2020, the CEO is Mark Heine.

Subcontractors

In 2013, DCN Globale was acquired by Fugro Subsea Middle East. The company employs around 210 people. Its annual turnover is around 30 million US dollars.

DCN Global includes the divers from DCN Diving . The company based in Bergen op Zoom works mainly for the gas and oil industry worldwide. The divers are used in the construction of offshore systems and carry out maintenance work underwater. Another area is the laying and maintenance of pipelines and submarine cables . DCN works for the installation of offshore wind turbines in waters off Europe, Africa and the Philippines.

DCN Diving has offices in Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom. The company is part of DCN Global.

chosen projects

  • In May 2013, DCN divers rescued a crew member of a sunken tugboat trapped under water for 62 hours off Nigeria.
  • In early August 2014, Fugro Survey received the order from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) to search for the wreck of the Boeing 777 of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the southern Indian Ocean with two ships. The order volume was AUD 60 million (around EUR 36 million).
  • On November 28, 2017, the submarine HMAS AE 1 , which had been missing since September 14, 1914, was found by the crew of the Fugro Equator at a depth of 300 meters near the Duke of York Islands .
