Bus operation

The bus operating division was founded in 2001 and coordinates and operates city bus transport in Coburg and the neighboring communities of Ahorn, Dörfles-Esbach, Niederfüllbach and Unterlauter. Around 55,000 people live in this catchment area, and an average of 15,000 passengers use the buses of SÜC Bus & Aquaria GmbH every day. The city buses operate from Monday to Friday between 5:00 a.m. and around 9:00 p.m., Saturdays between 6:00 a.m. and around 8:00 p.m. and Sundays between 11:15 a.m. and around 8:00 p.m. After closing time, SÜC Bus & Aquaria GmbH runs collective call taxis ( AST's ) until 11:30 pm, and on weekends even until 3:45 am.

For special events in downtown Coburg, the operating hours of the city buses are sometimes extended to midnight or 3:30 a.m. Examples of this are the late night shopping nights and the samba festival .

Infrastructure

The administration, the operations control center and the workshop are located in a building complex between Bambergerstrasse and Uferstrasse in the south of Coburg. All buses of the public transport company as well as some buses of the DB Frankenbus (Omnibusverkehr Franken, OVF) are serviced and parked there.

Vehicle fleet

39 low-floor buses are currently used in city traffic. From 2001 to 2006 a total of 15 city buses powered by natural gas were purchased.

In 2007 the first bus in the O405 series was taken out of service, the next two buses did not follow until late summer 2010 due to an accident or technical defect. In December 2010, four new MAN Lion's City came to the depot, replacing two O405 buses from 1988. In 2015 the last three O 405 N buses were retired.

At the end of 2009, 30 buses were equipped with double screens for passenger information , with the next five stops on the left and a mix of current news and advertising on the right. The MAN Lion's City, which were newly acquired at the end of 2010, and the Citaros acquired in the following years, each also received a double screen. Until November 2011, acoustic stop announcements were only made sporadically by the drivers; since November 2011 this has been done by an automatic female voice.

Aquaria indoor swimming pool

The outdoor pool on Rosenauer Straße was opened in 1926, the indoor pool next to it in 1973. The baths were christened "Aquaria" in 1998 and transferred from the city of Coburg to the SÜC. The last renovation and new building was completed at the end of 2004.

There are four different pools in the indoor pool building , these are a sports pool, a non-teaching pool, a children's pool and a 4-season pool with a level transition to the outside. The 86-meter-long water slide begins and ends in the building, but the rest of the section is outside of the indoor pool. The outdoor area offers a sports pool, a wave pool with a separate children's wave pool, a so-called 4-season pool with a covered flow channel. There is also a diving platform and a water playground for children on the outdoor pool area.
