São Gregório is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Arraiolos . 330 inhabitants lived in the community (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The place is older, but it only became an independent municipality in the 16th century.

On September 29, 2013, the parishes of São Gregório and Santa Justa were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de São Gregório e Santa Justa . São Gregório is the seat of this newly formed community.

Attractions

The baroque parish church Igreja Paroquial de São Gregório (also just Igreja de São Gregório ) dates from the 16th century. It contains gilded altarpieces ( Talha dourada ) and mannerist paintings. The church is a listed building.
