São Sebastião is a Portuguese town and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Lagos . 14,014 inhabitants lived on a community area of ​​19.8 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

The municipality of São Sebastião, together with the municipality of Santa Maria , represented the urban area of ​​Lagos.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Lagos (São Sebastião) and Lagos (Santa Maria) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Lagos (São Sebastião e Santa Maria) . Lagos (São Sebastião) is the seat of this newly formed community.
