São Sebastião is a Portuguese town and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Lagos . 14,014 inhabitants lived on a community area of 19.8 km² (as of June 30, 2011).
The municipality of São Sebastião, together with the municipality of Santa Maria , represented the urban area of Lagos.
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Lagos (São Sebastião) and Lagos (Santa Maria) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Lagos (São Sebastião e Santa Maria) . Lagos (São Sebastião) is the seat of this newly formed community.
