Sawmill from Anspach

The sawmill from Anspach is a historic building. It originally stood in Anspach and was in the Hessenpark in Neu-Anspach translocated .

The original sawmill

In the early 20th century, Otto Jung founded a carpentry business with a sawmill in Anspach. In 1919 Philipp Störkel bought the company. Later his sons Heinrich and Otto took over the sawmill. The company flourished especially in the post-war period . In 1982 the building was demolished to make way for the new building on Heisterbachstrasse. The company “Störkel, Holz- und Bedachungsunternehmen GmbH & Co KG” continues to exist at a different location in Anspach and is still family-owned.

The building

The carpentry workshop was dismantled in 1982 and rebuilt in 1983 in the nearby Hessenpark in the workshops assembly group. Because of attack by dry rot 2012 a comprehensive reorganization was necessary.

The sawmill's equipment includes historical machines from the first half of the 20th century. In an extension there was a steam engine as a power source, which drives a frame saw machine. Today the drive is electric. The original vertical saw frame was replaced by a horizontal saw frame in Hessenpark. This saw comes from a sawmill with a carpentry shop in Hünstelden-Heringen and was manufactured by the Wehrhahn company in Delmenhorst in the 1920s.

In addition, other historical machines, some of which come from the stock of the Störkel company, are used. One example is a wood wool machine from the August Löw company in Riedelbach.
