Sædding (formerly Sæthum , also Sæddæn ) is a northern suburb of Esbjerg in Jutland in Denmark . The place belongs to the parish of Sædden Sogn .

From 1973 to 1976 a Viking village was excavated here on an area of 3.5 hectares , which existed for about 200 years until around the year 1100 AD. In the center there were six to seven large houses around a 150 × 30 m square. These main buildings were 25 to 55 m long. Several outbuildings and pit houses were workshops for weaving and forging. The buildings were rebuilt several times. A total of over 100 long houses, 75 pit houses and seven wells were recognized.

One of the oldest Christian bronze crosses in Denmark was found here.
