Sélibaby ,سيلبابي, is the capital of the Guidimaka administrative unit in the south of the West African state of Mauritania .

The city's population increased continuously. In 1977 it was 5,451 and in 1988 it was 11,530, and by 2000 it had risen to 15,289. In 2005, the city's population was estimated at 18,424. This made it 22nd on the list of the largest cities in Mauritania in 2005 and the third largest city in Guidimaka after Ghabou and Gouraye .
