Anton Koczur

Anton Koczur (born February 22, 1941 in Waidhofen an der Thaya ; † July 14, 2016 in Groß-Siegharts ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1993 to 1994 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 1980 to 1993 and from 1994 to 1999 a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

education and profession

After attending elementary and secondary school, Koczur learned the trade of a locksmith and graduated from vocational school from 1955 to 1958. From 1960 to 1965 he worked as a fitter at the carpet and upholstery fabric factory in Groß-Siegharts , and from 1965 to 1980 he was the district party secretary of the SPÖ Waidhofen an der Thaya. Between 1963 and 1964 Koczur also attended the social academy of the chamber for workers and employees.

politics

Koczur began his political career in 1968 as a councilor in Groß-Siegharts, was promoted to city council in 1972 and took over the office of mayor in 1975. He held this until 2004. He represented the SPÖ from October 9, 1980 to June 7, 1993 in the Lower Austrian state parliament and was then a member of the Federal Council from June 7, 1993 to November 9, 1994. On November 10, 1994, Koczur was sworn in again as a member of the state parliament, and he held this position until June 21, 1999. In addition, between December 15, 1994 and April 16, 1998, he was 2nd President of the State Parliament and then until 1999 club chairman of the SPÖ Lower Austria.

Within the party, Koczur acted as district party chairman of the SPÖ Waidhofen an der Thaya from 1982, was a member of the state party committee of the SPÖ Lower Austria and from 1988 deputy chairman of the state parliament club. From 1991, he was also deputy chairman of the Social Democratic Association of Local Representatives in Lower Austria. From 1994 President of the Association of Local Representatives of the SPÖ Lower Austria since 1994 and subsequently Vice-President of the Austrian Association of Local Authorities. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, Koczur has published a book entitled “Memories of the Path through My Life”.
