Sérgio Ribeiro (cyclist)

Sérgio Miguel Vieira Ribeiro (born November 28, 1980 in Matosinhos ) is a Portuguese cyclist .

Sérgio Ribeiro began his career in 2004 with the Portuguese cycling team Barbot-Halcon . In 2005 he won a stage at the Vuelta a Castilla y León and later came third at the Volta ao Alentejo . In 2006 he only won one stage in the Volta ao Santarem . Then he finished sixth in the Danish one-day race Aarhus Classic . This year he was able to improve at the Volta ao Alentejo and decided the tour for himself. In 2007 Ribeiro moved to Benfica Lisbon on the side of José Azevedo . The contract was terminated in the spring of 2007. On August 3, 2013, he was banned for 12 years for repeated doping.

At the end of the 2013 season he ended his career as a professional cyclist.
