The Sólheimajökull is a glacier tongue of Mýrdalsjökulls in the south of Iceland .
The glacier is about ten kilometers long and is barely 7 kilometers east of Skógar . It can be reached from the ring road via Sólheimajökulsvegur , road 221 .
The Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi rises from the glacier and flows into the North Atlantic after nine kilometers . It is also called Fúlilækur ( Stinkebach ) because of the sulfur in the water from the Katla volcano .
