The Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi is a glacial river in southern Iceland .
The river rises from Sólheimajökull , a glacier tongue in the south of Mýrdalsjökull . It is only 9.5 kilometers long and flows into the North Atlantic . It is also called Fúlilækur (Stinkebach). Due to the volcanic activity of the Katla , its water also contains hydrogen sulfide.
To the east of the only bridge on the ring road over the Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi, the Sólheimajökulsvegur (4.2 km long) leads to the glacier where the river rises.
