Sons of the Immaculate Conception
The Sons of the Immaculate Conception ( Latin : Congregatio Filiorum Immaculatae Conceptionis , it . : Figli dell'Immacolata Concezione , order abbreviation : CFIC ), also known as conceptionists, are a religious community of the Roman Catholic Church for men. It was founded on September 8, 1857 by the Blessed Luigi Maria Monti (1825–1900).
Story and content
The lay brother Luigi Maria Monti founded a brotherhood in 1857 which placed itself under the protection of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and took care of the sick and dying during an epidemic . This lay brotherhood received on October 4, 1862 the founding confirmation and was on May 10, 1865 by Pope Pius IX. approved .
At the request of the lay fraternity, Pope Pius X approved the entry of priests in 1904 and the congregation now called itself "Sons of the Immaculate Conception". The life of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception is linked to a life according to the evangelical counsels . They work in the care of the sick, the upbringing of orphans and the help for the needy.
On the occasion of the beatification of the founder of the Order on November 9, 2003, Pope John Paul II stated:
"In his devotion to the Gospel, he always followed the example of the Most Blessed Virgin and placed the congregation he founded under the protection of the Immaculate Virgin Mary."

The religious community is an institute of consecrated life and had 58 institutions on December 31, 2005, it had 387 members, of whom 127 were priests. The current Superior General is Michele Perniola, who succeeded Ruggero Valentini in 2016. The Generalate has its seat in Rome , the Congregation is spread over four continents and is divided into the provinces of Italy , India and Latin America . Some Order members are also active in Asia, Africa and North America.
