Sören Herbst (2016)

Sören Herbst (born January 12, 1980 in Magdeburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and entrepreneur. From 2011 to 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and from 2015 deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. Since 2016 he has been one of the representatives of the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the European Committee of the Regions .

Herbst passed the Abitur at the Ecumenical Cathedral High School in Magdeburg . He obtained a bachelor's degree in social sciences and a master's degree in international peace and conflict research at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

Herbst was the legal, European, media and integration policy spokesman for his parliamentary group in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. In addition to international cooperation and European policy, integration policy was an important focus of his parliamentary activities. Herbst is considered a proponent of European integration in Ukraine and is committed to strengthening the Eastern Partnership .

In 2000 Sören Herbst joined the party Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and subsequently held various party offices. Until 2004 he was a board member of the Magdeburg district association and from 2002 to 2006 a member of the state board of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Sachsen-Anhalt. At the same time he worked as an employee in the constituency office of Undine Kurth 's member of the Bundestag . Herbst has been a member of the city council of the state capital Magdeburg since 2004.

Herbst has been a member of the MDR Broadcasting Council since December 2015 .

Autumn is Protestant.
