Broadcasting Council of the Central German Radio
The Broadcasting Council is the central decision-making, monitoring and control body of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). The basis for the Broadcasting Council is the " State Treaty on Central German Broadcasting" between the states of Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia .
tasks
Among other things, the Broadcasting Council issues and changes the statutes of the MDR, decides on the program guidelines, appoints and dismisses the director and the members of the board of directors and decides on the institution's finances .
composition
The Broadcasting Council is composed in accordance with Section 19 (1) of the MDR State Treaty according to the corporate principle, i.e. H. In addition to representatives of the state and the political parties present in the state parliaments, it also includes representatives of organizations classified as "socially important" by the state. There is no democratic election of the members of the Broadcasting Council by the citizens.
The term of office of the Broadcasting Council is 6 years, with the chairman and his two deputies changing every two years between the three statute-treaty countries.

Expense allowance
The expense allowances for the members of the two bodies, the MDR Broadcasting Council and the MDR Administrative Council, totaled around 470,000 euros in 2014.
