Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Saxony-Anhalt is one of the state associations of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party . It had around 1050 members in November 2019. Equal chairpersons are Susan Sziborra-Seidlitz and Sebastian Striegel .
history
After disputes between the SED regime and the GDR opposition, the opening of the Hungarian-Austrian border and the exposure of the fraudulent local election results, the domestic political situation in the districts of Magdeburg and Halle (Saale) came to a head. Civil rights movements gained more and more importance in what is now Saxony-Anhalt , such as Democracy Now , the New Forum , the United Left, the Green League and the Independent Women's Association . In addition, the Peace and Human Rights Initiative had existed since 1986 .
The Green Party in the GDR was founded on November 24, 1989.
The five percent hurdle in the state elections on October 14, 1990 was overcome through the formation of a list connection Green List / New Forum (GL / NF) between the Greens and the citizens' movements .
The state association of Saxony-Anhalt was founded at the 1st state party conference in Quedlinburg from August 24th to 26th, 1990. About 60 delegates from the two district associations Halle and Magdeburg of the GDR Green Party formed the new association.
On the day after the first all-German federal election in 1990 , the then independent state associations of the Green Party of the former GDR (except Saxony) and the Federal Republic came together. In 1991, Democracy Now, the Initiative for Peace and Human Rights and most of the New Forum for the Alliance 90 party were united. A regional association was also founded in Saxony-Anhalt.
After a strike vote on an association agreement between the Greens and Bündnis 90 in April 1993, from 26.-27. June a state delegates conference Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen took place in Wernigerode . A joint regional association with a board of directors and statutes was formed.
After the state elections in 1994, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the SPD and the Höppner I cabinet formed the first minority government in Germany tolerated by the PDS . This form of cooperation with the PDS became known as the Magdeburg model .
For the state elections on April 16, 1998, Alliance 90 / The Greens could no longer move into the state parliament with 3.2 percent of the votes. In the state elections on April 21, 2002 and March 26, 2006 , the regional association failed to make it into the state parliament with 2.1 and 3.6 percent respectively.
For the state election in Saxony-Anhalt in 2011 , the state association had put Claudia Dalbert as the top candidate and moved back into the state parliament with 7.1%, in which she was represented as an opposition party . Nine seats could be obtained, which are occupied by Claudia Dalbert, Christoph Erdmenger, Cornelia Lüddemann , Sebastian Striegel , Dorothea Frederking , Sören Herbst , Verena Wicke-Scheil , Dietmar Weihrich and Franziska Latta .
In the state elections in 2016 , the party received 5.2% of the vote and entered the state parliament with 5 members. Together with the CDU and SPD, she is involved in the state government and provides Claudia Dalbert as Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and Energy.
structure
organization
The regional association is organized in 13 district associations (due to the connection of the district associations Altmarkkreis Salzwedel and Stendal), which appear as city associations in the cities of Magdeburg, Dessau and Halle (Saale). There are also a few regional groups. The state board forms the political head of the state association, which is usually occupied twice by a woman and a man and is re-elected every two years.
