The state election in Saxony-Anhalt in 1994 was the second election to the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . It took place on June 26, 1994. 2,155,841 residents were eligible to vote; the turnout was 54.8%.

The CDU Sachsen-Anhalt (CDU) recorded a loss of around 5%, while the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) were both able to increase their results by 8%. The Free Democrats (FDP) under top candidate Peter Kunert lost 10% and left the state parliament; Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen stagnated in their results and just managed to get back into the state parliament.

A minority government called the “ Magdeburg Model ” was formed from the SPD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen under Prime Minister Reinhard Höppner (SPD), which was tolerated by the PDS.

This government model, practiced for the first time, led to nationwide debates about the relationship between the SPD and the PDS.
